Join us on October 10 in New York City, when The Gerald Loeb Awards will announce this year's winning journalists and outlets in all competition categories and celebrate our career achievement honorees.

At UCLA Anderson, we believe that every year the Loeb entries are a synopsis of the key issues of the day. They are prescient in exposing us to the future and represent an invaluable learning tool for our future leaders.

We are proud to be the stewards of Gerald Loeb's vision to recognize reporting on business and finance that informs and protects the private investor and the general public.

Gerald Loeb’s Enduring Impact

Gerald Martin Loeb, born in 1899 in San Francisco, California, embarked on his professional journey in 1921 within the bond department of a securities firm. Relocating to New York City in 1924, he played a pivotal role in the establishment of E.F. Hutton, eventually rising to the position of vice-chairman of the board. Throughout his illustrious career, Gerald Loeb garnered the admiration of business and financial journalists due to his openness for interviews, earning him the moniker of "probably the most quoted man on Wall Street" (Forbes Magazine 1955).

An accomplished author of two investment strategy books and a guest columnist for Forbes Magazine, he is widely recognized as a Wall Street iconoclast. In 1957, he founded the G. and R. Loeb Foundation (later entrusted to the University of Connecticut), dedicated to bestowing The Gerald Loeb Awards for Distinguished Business and Financial Journalism. In 1973, Mr. Loeb transitioned the stewardship of these awards to UCLA Anderson School of Management, under the leadership of Dean Harold Williams.
